Dippy (Diplodocus Carnegii, Natural History Museum)
Watercolour
86 x 114 cm

Oh my beloved Dippy is finished...well nearly. To scan it for the website I've had to make 24 separate scans before I actually stuck her together and polished off her joins properly, so it's a bit botched together for you here. Once it's properly done, I might have it photographed properly. Dippy is going to be entered into the Threadneedle Prize. Who knows if she's really the kind of thing they are looking for, but I have plenty of other things I can use her for if not.

This is an extremely large painting and had to be painted in four separate parts, which I have never done before, but I needed it to be big to reflect the actual scale. It wouldn't have worked smaller. That was a real challenge for a watercolour painting. If I'd done her in oils it would have been easy to find a canvas. It will look amazing in it's classy black custom made frame. This week I'll be sticking her together properly and making the joins invisible ready for framing.
